Imagine what we could accomplish if more people realised that by living more sustainably, we are taking care of our own health, the health of our families and the health of our communities?
At Endura, we are committed to supplying sustainable products, right from the use of sustainable raw materials, through to sustainable packaging:
- Sustainability in the herbs we use is fundamental to us. During the formulation and sourcing process, we undertake stringent reviews on all herbal raw materials including mandatory searches on CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) to ensure the species we use are not endangered. Additional sustainability searches are undertaken on other databases including TRAFFIC and the IUCN Red List.
- Another example of practising sustainably is ensuring our fish oil is sourced from ‘Friends of the Sea’ certified suppliers. This program adopts selective fishing methods to reduce ecosystem impact and ensures high quality standards in terms of energy efficiency and social accountability.
- As a signatory of the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) – an initiative which aims for sustainable packaging, increased recycling rates and reduced packaging waste, Metagenics uses biodegradable bubble wrap, Envirofill Void Packaging (made from potato starch), which can be used as compost, as well as cardboard packing boxes made of 70% recycled material. In addition, our automated picking system calculates the most space efficient way to send product to minimise the amount of void packing required.
- 2018 will also see much of the Metagenics range packaged in amber glass bottles – a material that is inert and 100% recyclable. This move also assists to withhold the integrity of the product ingredients and protect the shelf life, meaning the products you prescribe aren’t compromised in any way before they reach your patient.
